Description
When The Accidental Prime Minister was published in 2014, it created a storm and became the publishing sensation of the year. The Prime Minister’s Office called the book a work of ‘fiction’, the press hailed it as a revelatory account of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s first term in UPA. Written by Singh’s media adviser and trusted aide, the bookdescribes Singh’s often troubled relations with his ministers, his cautious equation with Sonia Gandhi and how he handled the big crises from managing the Left to pushing through the nuclear deal. Insightful, acute and packed with political anecdotes, The Accidental Prime Minister is one of the great insider accounts of Indian political life.

Introspective

The book has drawn many controversies but I couldn't be able to understand why PMO was defending PM. When the book itself is the honest defense for the PM. Very well articulate and very well description of chain of events mainly in UPA I. Only one point could be reconsidered timing of the release.

Must read for young officials/administrators in Public Service

Sanjay worked for almost 4 years with Dr Singh, and he claims he has never called on Sonia Gandhi, assuming this to be true, i think this gives a nice account of how to do our job, even when you have no idea how, when, where and with whom it is to be done. it gives a fair idea on how things get messy and at times scandalous when you have multiple power centers and too much of dynamics, especially in a public office.

Excellent narrative, a lot to learn for young officials, who would take up...

Ring side view of modern version of Mahabharata by sanjaya

Excellent job of reporting on how one honest brilliant academic found himself to be embedded
in a rotten system of sycophants and yet could deliver some superb legislation as well as strategic outcomes for India...

Let there never again be dual power centers in a country that is radically ego centric

Ignorance is not so bliss

This book gives a good peek into the politics that goes around to do something good in Indian democracy. It might even wipeout the image of Dr.Manmohan Singh that media has fed us over the past few years.

Finally, it teaches you that a politician needs to clear many hurdles to complete a good deed than to complete a bad one.

Interesting but biased

It is interesting book to know what kind of transition a brilliant economist turn to be a accidental politician. Knowing a lot of things like behaviour of thence ministers and our current president as a minister is just amazing. It's is sad we left a good person like DR. Singh to rot in this pile of scumbags for ten years. But as for the book and Baru are concerned we can make out easily the author lean much toward the state he belonged to. Every chapter has at least one incident citing the T...

Insight into a PMO n UPA.

At the outset, please note that this was my first e-book n it was an awesome experience.
The book emphasizes on mostly that Mr. MMS is a super personality, having gathered accolades and respect not only in India but internationally for his humble background, academics and his stint as PM in UPA-I. But the irony is that he just remained a mute spectator in his II stint and acted completely on the advice of Party supreme. The book revolves mostly around the Nuclear Treaty with USA. The auth...
