Father elephant by Artist Haat.
A mighty elephant with down trunk, thrusting powerful tusks towards earth. Hand Carved in intricate Jali, or openwork. He reveals two perfect miniature elephants inside. Our artisans masterfully sculpt the elegant elephant of natural soapstone. It takes 10-15 days to make single elephant. It has no joints as it is made up of single piece of soapstone rock.
Elephants represent the nurturing side of life: caring and understanding. Through intuition, we find the abundance to take care of ourselves and others. The symbol of the elephant reminds us to reach out and care for the world around us, developing more compassion.
The totem can be used as a home decor item, or personal altar piece. All our specimens have been physically and energetically cleansed to ensure a high product and energetic quality. These stones have spent 12+ hours in direct sunlight/moonlight, soaking up the energy of mother Earth for a recharge.
Soapstone/soap rock comes from the mineral steatite. It is an incredibly soft stone that has an oily texture. It is much easier to carve than marble or granite, enabling the craftsmen to produce more intricate detailing. Soapstone comes in a variety of colors and can be found in varying shades of red, pink, white, green, violet, brown, gray, black and yellow. Indian and other Asian craftsmen have used soapstone for the creation of carved figures, dishes, containers, pendants, animals and brooches and other items for thousands of years.
