Get this book and you will have all you need to learn about AVR microcontrollers (ATMEGA 16/32 primarily) at your fingertips. You might consider going for the ebook too, as it is easier to search topics that way, but then its a book to have in your bookshelf if you're a microcontroller freak like me. It has practical examples, etc. too and teaches you to code the AVR using both assembly language and Embedded C, so that you can be proficient with it. This is seriously the best you're gonna get...

This book is a very good start for people who want to learn coding of the AVR microcontroller. It clearly covers the basic architecture followed by a proper introduction to embedded system coding which is very decent for a person starting to learn AVR coding.

I own the 8051 book by Majidi so I purchased this book.
Those who have read the 8051 will find similarities in the writing style. If you have no background in AVR then you can purchase this one. If you have previously worked upon AVR then I recommend that you purchase the eBook.
Please note that there are no good projects in this book. Also a large part of the book is directly taken from the AVR datasheets.
This is good for beginners only not for advanced people.

I do not need to say much about the quality of Mazidi's books.
They are simplistic and give you the functional and operational knowledge of the micro-controller you are working on.However, being an electronics engineer, I find it lacking in the explanation of hardware and design features.

If you want to start working on your board quickly, this is an ideal book. However, do not limit your scope to this book only.

This is the best book to learn AVR Microcontroller programming. I ordered on Monday night and I received it on wednesday morning.
