I myself didn't know. I previously had used Philips Santinelle, which was a shaver.
So coming back to Braun, as it's epilator it works very slow as compared to a shaver. So keep that in mind. Yes it works gently and is thus time taking than a shaver, but it's quite smooth. At first I didn't realise how much i should press this on my skin. This is figured out after first use.

1. Using epilator is surely painful, but I feel that its slightly less painful than waxing.
2. U don't need to do entire arm or leg in one go. U can do small patches of skin, wait and once the pain eases continue again.
