Chhau Dance: An Anthology  (B.R. Rhythms, Sudip Bhui, Guru Tapan Kumar Pattnayak)

Golden intangible cultural heritage of Eastern India (UNESCO,2010), Chhau dance indicates identity of large sections of people in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha, earned popularities in Globe. Forty eight artists ( three Padamshree Awardees), four university faculties, scholars and chhau administrators contribute fifty-seven articles to cover the socio-economic and politico-historical perspective of chhau dance in entire culture area with its all Gharanas. Almost all the regional variations of Seraikela,Mayurbhanj and Purulia through each and every component like dance, scripts( Palas),music,musical instruments have been covered. A group of young and genius artists and scholars present about pioneers and few glimpses of emerging trends of future research in field of chhau dance. The Exponent trainers of this field provide ample basic of concepts on talas, rhythm , gaits through writings and pictures. We believe this effort from versatile minds represent grassroots level and executives, will provide knowledge, inspirations and thrust to artists, researchers and learners of performing arts, folk media, regional culture and public administrations for inculcate, planning and realize their visions.
