    Thought provoking

Its difficult to describe how good and how important a book Curfewed Night is. Most Indians think they have a fair understanding of the conflict in Kashmir and to be honest, I too was one of them. However Basharat Peer's excellent book made me realise how little I knew about what was going on in one of the most beautiful states in our country.

Basharat had done a very good job in piecing together the different pieces that make up the Kashmir puzzle and the amount of research that he has don...

    Beautifully expressed though Pro-Azadi book

From the very first page, the writer- Basharat Peer captures your imagination by the nostalgic description of Kashmir of 80s, but after few initial pages it becomes vivid account of 90s and early 2000s-Militancy uprising, daily bloodshed and bombings, Army rule, AFSPA, Sufferings of Kashmiris, Kashmiris Support for the Militants fighting for "Azaadi" and all- By his writings you get to know that he had a soft heart for the Militants...and, at times seems to forcefully rue the fact that Kashmir...

    Pretty good

I would recommend this book to all those who think they have a clear understanding of the conflicts of kashmir. This book is written by a kashmiri himself.
Struggles of kashmiris in their own valley.

    Must Read

The book is a great work in writing. The author has crafted his work intertwining the daily life of a Kashmiri with the rise of insurgency in the region. The book is a vivid example of the contrasting lives of people in war and those living in relatively peaceful regions. The crisp review by Khushwant Singh on the cover of the book says it all.

A virtual tour of Kashmir of 90s.

It was a book worth reading. You will come to know about real scene of Kashmir. Basharat Peer sir has written it beautifully, unbiasedly.
I'll love more and more people reading it and knowing the situations which Kashmiris went through during those torrid time of 90s and early 2000s.
Some parts of the book will bring tears to your eyes, reading how much the innocents had to suffer, eg.- the rape of a newly married bride; while some parts like the epilogue will bring you tears of joy and hap...

    Curfewed Nights

Excellent book...very well written....first hand account of turmoil in the Kashmir valley ....no one is innocent...no heroes....no villains ...all victims of circumstances... is it worthwhile to protect any faith by such a high price of life, emotions, deceit, psychological stress, etc? ....in the end all of us accept that God in only one....No faith can be eternally protected or spread by guns, lathies or any form of muscle power or coercion. ....if any faith or religion is strong then it will...
