Geronimo Stilton :#2 The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid is the second book of the Geronimo Stilton series, which is a best-selling children’s fiction series. Originally published in Italy by Edizioni Piemme, Scholastic Corporation started publishing the series in English from 2004.

Summary Of The Book

Geronimo Stilton is a popular children’s fiction series that relates the stories of the protagonist Geronimo Stilton who is a talking mouse. This little funny creature lives in a fictional town called New Mouse City that is located on Mouse Island. He has been portrayed as a best-selling writer who also works as an editor and journalist for a newspaper called The Rodent's Gazette. The other three main characters in the series are Thea Stilton, the younger sister of Geronimo, Trap Stilton, a cousin of the protagonist, and Benjamin Stilton, a nine-year old nephew of Geronimo.

Geronimo is a mild-mannered and nervous mouse protagonist. His main motto of life is to live a quiet life, however the destiny keeps on indulging him into various interesting adventures with other members of his family.

The second book in the series, Geronimo Stilton :#2 The Curse Of The Cheese Pyramid, introduces the three main characters of the series. In this book, Geronimo’s grandfather appears from nowhere and takes over the charge of the fictional newspaper, The Rodent’s Gazette. His first step is to fire everybody aboard who has been working this newspaper. He also asks Geronimo to go to Egypt to learn the secret of producing energy from camel dung by Professor Alrat Spitfur. The story takes the reader on this Egypt trip that Geronimo has to make on an unsteady and old plane of the Dirt Cheap Airlines. This reflects the miserliness of his grandfather.

Once Geronimo reaches Egypt, he learns more than how energy is generated from camel dung. He explores the history and culture of the city while journeying on camels. He learns about the history of great pyramids and also explores the Seven Wonders of The Ancient Mouse World. The story then moves forward to relate the plan of Geronimo and his colleagues to avoid his grandfather, on his return to his hometown.
Written in the format of Geronimo’s autobiography, these adventure stories became so popular in Italy that they were later translated into 35 other languages. The author deliberately makes use of different fonts and colors to make it more interesting for young kids.

Elisabetta Dami is a famous Italian children’s fiction writer. She has published the entire Geronimo Stilton series under the pseudonym of Geronimo Stilton. She is a philanthropist and an adventure lover and both these qualities get reflected in her books.
