a masterpiece

this is not a book written from start to finish by Ray, in the true sense of the word. rather, it is a compilation of several articles, which were written by him over a wide span of time. perhaps cinema is one of the purest form of art and a good cinema is one of the most important thing which can mold the personality of a child or an adolescent. this book will give an insight to the mind of this genius.

For any lover of Ray/Cinema!

Undoubtedly one of India's greatest filmmakers, Ray was an equally good writer and the book is a testament to the fact. Be it the piece on silent films or the piece on his experiences in foreign film festivals, his uniqueness and observatory skills in writing stand out as much as they did in his films.

A must read for any lover of Ray/Cinema!

A tidy collection of his views towards world cinema of his time.

Reading books by Ray is always a delight. This book gives you a frame-line of cinema of those times. A quite engrossing one with articles, posters and pictures discussing the phases of advancement and his experience also including works of few masters. For cine starters this is a good book to build a view. A must read for all !

Review : Deep Focus

An amazing book, that is a must for all literary fans of Ray and more so for his film enthusiast.

This book (as described) will provide you with a selection of never before published articles that probably had
been printed once in some news paper (eg. one from Aug â??49 statesman), really long back.

A spolier here : Expect the unexpected - Ray discussing the monotony of Uttam Kumar's lover boy image from the pre-Nayak films and appreciating the pair of Uttam - Suchitra as one of the perfect...
