In this price range this is the best 24 inch monitor I could find.
This uses an AMVA panel technology , so the color reproduction wont be as accurate as a TFT panel (But they cost a lot). But these panels are better than the TN panels(BenQ Monitors in this price range).
This panel is quite responsive with as low as 5ms in response time.

Demerit :
Little glossy and reflective.
Not adjustable in height.

I bought the DELL S2440L 24 inch LED monitor to use with My Macbook as an external display. I plug it in via a thunderbolt to VGA converter. I have been using it for past 1.5 months and I am overall satisfied with the results except for the two small downsides:
1. sometimes the display flickers when connected to my Mac. This could very well be my thunderbolt to VGA adapter which is also from Dell.
2. If I turn on machine with display already connected the resolution increases magically. To fi...

My previous monitor, Samsung 2243nwx (LCD), which I brought 5 years ago, displayed text much more crisp and clear then this monitor. If you read a lot from the internet or use CUI consoles or IDEs you will not find this monitor comfortable. It does look cool but only when it's turned off.

Firstly let me tell u that its a very good looking piece of glass :) if u dont mind the reflections and like the color depth in glossy screens then u can go for it straight away otherwise stay away, there r plenty of matte finish monitors out there.

After few days of usage the Hdmi port is not working properly its showing weird lines and monitor starts flickering rapidly

.Cons first I bought this thing 3 months back then I noticed (water vapour) condensation inside the monitor inside the glossy glass. When I contacted dell Indian team they told me that it’s due to external problem and they cannot replace it ;(
.Reflection problems are a big issue if window is behind you.

display is brilliant...had hp22fi in mind as alternative...but dell came 2k cheaper with atmost all features...so picked up dis one...good buy :D

Dell S2440L is a very good full hd monitor only 1 issue since the screen is glossy screen is reflective but it is not bad enough to be a deal breaker in my opinion.One of the best monitor in the price range.

For those who are fascinated about the S series......
All other S series (S2240, S2340 and S2740) except the 24 inch S2440l uses IPS Panel unlike the VA panel.

Actually I was tempted to change my Samsung PX2370 after I saw the performance of S2240.. and was desperate in buying something not less than 23" so chose S2440l (Since the IPS S2340 was not available in Chennai).
