A good buy!
English is our portal to the world. And for kids nothing looks as intimidating as a large dictionary with words filled up from the top to the bottom. These dictionaries are supposed to ease that intimidation a bit and do some more.
Writing in English can be a complicated affair for the kids, if I remember my childhood as vividly as I think I do. Often times you need helping with an explanation in your vernacular. This book does that and some more. It helps you with its manageable size!

effective as per price
The price is too cheap as comparison to the book. This is to handy and useful for my kids to go through instead of that bulk dictionaries so available in the market.
At the kids level, most complicated words are not necessary and only required words are needed, as this dictionary serves that , what we need.

Covers only very commonly used words..
As the title suggests, the book contains only "essential" words. A lot of words, some fairly common, are missing. This dictionary is basically for survival in an English-speaking environment, not for vocabulary building. Go for a dictionary which is richer in terms of words, if your aim is to understand each and every word you come across.
