The Feynman Lectures On Physics: Mainly Electromagnetism and Matter (Volume 2) is the second volume of the compilation of the famous Feynman lectures given at Caltech, in the 1960s.

    Summary Of The Book

Richard Feynman was a theoretical physicist who did pioneering work in many fields and was also a respected teacher. The Feynman Lectures On Physics: Mainly Electromagnetism And Matter (Volume 2) is the second part of a compilation of his lectures given at the California Institute of Technology.

In the 1960s, Caltech was dissatisfied with the introductory physics course offered to undergraduates, and wanted to redesign it. Feynman was known as the “Great Explainer”, who could take complex concepts and make them easily understandable, even to the comparative novice.

When Caltech asked him to deliver introductory lectures on physics at the college level, he agreed at once. But, he said he would give the lectures just once. Caltech agreed and recorded all of his lectures. Volunteers then sat down, listened to the tapes, and created transcripts.
They then edited and compiled the lectures and published it in three volumes. The first is on Mechanics, Radiation and Heat. The second volume covers Electromagnetism and Matter, and the third volume is focused on Quantum Mechanics.

The Feynman Lectures On Physics: Mainly Electromagnetism And Matter (Volume 2) comprehensively covers the subjects this volume focuses on. The coverage ranges from Electromagnetism and Electrostatics, and AC Circuits and Waveguides, to Elastic Materials and Curved Space.

    About The Authors

Richard P. Feynman was a theoretical physicist and an educator.

Theory of Fundamental Processes, The Character of Physical Law: The 1964 Messenger Lectures, and QED: The Strange Theory of Light and Matter are a few of his other books.

Richard Feynman was born in 1918, in New York City. He was a part of the Manhattan Project as a junior physicist. He is best known for his work in the field of quantum mechanics. He also had a passion for teaching, and was called the Great Explainer for his ability to convey the ideas of the most complex topics in an easy manner. He was with the California Institute of Technology for several years, holding research and teaching positions.

Robert B. Leighton was an American Experimental Physicist.

Robert B. Leighton was a popular faculty member at Caltech, a respected teacher. He had also obtained his Master’s Degree and his PhD from that institution. He was an important part of the team that worked on transcribing the tapes of Feynman's lectures on physics at Caltech.
Matthew Sands is a physicist and educator.

Matthew Sands was the first scientist to demonstrate the importance of quantum effects in the acceleration of electrons. He served on the Commission on College Physics during the 1960s to revise and bring up-to-date the physics courses offered in colleges and universities across the US.

    IT MAKES YOU THINK!,IMAGINE

WELL, Feynman emphasizes on way of thinking about an IDEA, imagining an idea .It not usual problematic solutions text. It’s indeed a great book since ,Feynman Lecture’s not only explains every phenomenon but also discuss the way scientist like EINSTEIN,NEWTON,etc . developed their revolutionary ‘IDEAS ‘ ,get this book and experience the fascination by yourself (of course one should have preliminaries and calculus to enjoy this book to the fullest ).

    An excellent Book..!!!

The greatest book that I have come across for Physics till now.. The greatest part of the book is it's explaination.. But before buying one has to consider whether he has the patience to read this book or not.. Because some of my friends said that the book is too massive to be read.. So before buying just rethink whether you can read this or not.. And one more thing to be considered is that this book is NOT FOR EXAMINATIONS AND EXAM PREPARATION .. This book is for gaining knowledge.. This boo...
