Description
This CD features the haunting sounds of the "Fulani flute," or "tambin," a little-known instrument from the Fouta Djallon Mountains of Guinea, West Africa. The way the flute is played -- by singing and blowing through it -- was the inspiration for the techniques developed by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. The Fula Flute ensemble gathered here features some of the finest African and African-oriented musicians in North American, including Bailo Bah, the featured soloist, who spent 22 years as a star of the world-famous "Ballets Koteba" of Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
