Cooking Instructions: Pre-Cooking: Rinse the uncooked rice under running water thoroughly, until the water runs clear, and soak it in lukewarm water for 30 minutes. Measures: Open pan cooking: 5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. Closed Pan / Microwave: 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. Add 1 tbs of butter or oil or margarine and salt if desired. COOKING METHODS OPEN PAN Bring water to a rolling boil. Add the drained rice and stir gently. Cook uncovered on medium heat for 6-8 minutes. Drain out the excess water, keep for fifteen minutes and then serve. CLOSED PAN Bring water and drained rice to boil. Cover the pan with a tight lid and let it simmer for 9-10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow it to stand covered for 5 minutes. MICROWAVE Put water and drained rice in a bowl. Stir once and cover with a pierced cling film. Cook on high/100% for 5 minutes then cook on medium 50% for a further 7 minutes. Let it stand covered for 7-8 minutes.
