My Experiments With Truth is the autobiography of a man whose very name has become synonymous with peace, truth and goodwill to all men, the man who might be the only one with a legacy to warrant the moniker of “Mahatma”. This is the autobiography of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

    Summary of the Book

The Twentieth Century could not have begun with greater turmoil for the nation of India. It had long been stripped of its wealth, its gold and its reputation as the jewel of the east. Now it had only one purpose, one desire. Despite the differences in their colour, language, dialect, religion and race, the people of India roared in unison for that precious of all rights, the right to freedom. They were screaming against the tyrannous rule of the British Raj, and they demanded that they be set free. But the British Raj would not yield. None of the violent acts orchestrated in the last two centuries had proven to be of any use against the might of the British Empire, the Crown controlled India despite all attempts at trying to secure freedom. Force could not make it yield. How then was the exact opposite of violence able to dethrone the British Raj in India? How was one man able to accomplish what others before him had tried to and failed? Consider his gauntly gait, his simple attire and his stance. He was no warrior, barely a politician. But his voice, his words resonated with a tremendous force. He was able to speak to the Britishers with a flair that doesn’t often show itself. He was able to make them take him, a person they considered to be a lowly fakir, seriously. After all, they’d seen what he could do in South Africa. After all, they knew that in his veins burnt something hotter than the anger of all of India, with his blood boiled the very values of truth and nonviolence, the very pillars of Indian philosophy, the pillars which would uproot the British Raj despite its best efforts to stay in place. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar, into a family of merchants. He was married young, went on to study law and was weighed down by familial pressures and responsibilities. In the years that followed, he journeyed to London and South Africa, and in South Africa, he witnessed how racial discrimination was destroying the basic rights of the natives. He changed, returning to India with one mission: independence. This book presents his autobiography, a personal account of a man’s journey from his early years to the time he received a unique name. Despite his legacy, Gandhi assures us of one thing. He continued to experiment with truth.

    About Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a freedom fighter, former advocate and Indian political figure. He was famous for his advocacy on nonviolence and his general outlook on life.

Born in Porbandar, Gujarat, Gandhi's life was changed with his education and eventual journey to South Africa where he helped the Blacks battle racism. He returned to his motherland to find her weeping under the weight of British Rule and his actions finally engulfed India into the final years of conflict before finally achieving Independence. Gandhi is known as the Father of the Indian Nation.

    Media Note

Much of Gandhi’s life was adapted into a hit film starring Ben Kingsley.

A manuscript of one of the simplest persons in the earth

I'm not sure, whether I'm eligible to make any comments or giving feedback on about this great human being. I hope he will definitely forgive me, if I have commented something which was against his vision or ideology. First of all I request only those who have a quest or great passion about our country and a great respect on the existence of human beings and on all other creatures in the nature would be able to understand what he is really devoted in this book or the vision he would have been...

    MUST READ

The book reminded me of 'Munnabhai'. It was as if the MAN himself talking to me. It was so nice to know about his life in his own words. It takes a lot of guts for a man of his stature to reveal such intricate details in public which most of us wouldn't dare. Especially about lust and other weaknesses. Though some places were a bit repetitive and hence boring, overall it was very gripping. Definitely a 'must read' about the man who holds such an importance in this country and worldwide.
