  • Description

The Girl You Left Behind is a romance novel by Jojo Moyes. Two young women, parted by a century, are brought together by the way they fight for what they love most. You can treat yourself with this title after reading the prequel novella, Honeymoon in Paris.

    Summary of the Book

Sophie Lefevre's story pictures the condition of life in 1916. She has always kept the family together and safe while her husband, Edouard, has been fighting at the front in France. Their family goes through immense fear when she is given the orders to serve the German officers who visit her hotel every evening. Meanwhile, a new Kommandant sets his eyes on Sophie's portrait, painted by Edouard himself. He develops a fierce and vicious obsession which leaves Sophie with no choice but to make an awful decision. Then a century later, Sophie's portrait is found hung in Liv Halston’s home. It was given to her as a wedding gift from her young husband before he passed away. Unexpected events occur, leading Liv to realise the true worth of the painting and its dark history. Will history resurface and change Liv's life all over again?

    Good book.

I really like this book. the author did really good job in mixing 2 stories of different time lines linked together. I really like the way she described the painting. What i can say that JOJO Moyes never disappoints, after reading her 3 books. it took me a while to complete this book.
