Gourmet Mushrooms Shiitake Mushroom growing kit gives gardening and mycology enthusiasts a boost into their exotic mushroom growing journey. Mushrooms are the fruiting body of fungi and there are almost 15 varieties of mushrooms which are cultivated in India. Shiitake mushrooms are among the most favourite mushrooms among Chefs which can be grown at home using growing kits. These mushrooms have a shelf life from 7-10 days after harvest if refrigerated. This Kit contains sterilized substrate inoculated with Lentinula Edodes fungi in controlled lab conditions. These are then packed in filter patch grow bags and filled with sterilized air. After inoculation, it takes around 90 days for spawn run inside the bag during which the mycelium (vegetative body of mushrooms) completely covers the substrate and turns the bag completely white and later brown. After completion of spawn run period, the bag is opened completely and removed. The mycelium senses high humidity and fresh air and forms bumps. The block is submerged in ice cold water for 15 mins to initiate fruiting .During the fruiting period, it is ensured that high humidity is maintained. Mushrooms grow in flushes (1-3 times) at an interval of 10 days based on the growing conditions.
