Grant Morrison's 18 Days is a dynamic rendering of the final climactic confrontation in the Epic, The Mahabharata. Presented in a graphic format with illustrations by Mukesh Singh and the script by Grant Morrison, this is an interesting new take on the ancient Indian Epic.
Summary Of The Book
The Mahabharata has been retold in various forms. Grant Morrison's 18 Days is an animated series on the epic war. The Mahabharata contains a huge number of characters and many of them have a big role to play in the final war. It is a compelling story that from the start sets in motion events which move inexorably towards a civil war. The Mahabharata war was fought over 18 days in Kurukshetra. Huge armies were arrayed on either side. The war was mainly between two branches of the same family, so it was a fratricidal conflict with family members confronting each other across battle lines.
Grant Morrison's 18 Days focuses on this war, over the full 18 days. The characters consist of divine beings and human heroes, and demons and villains. Ultimately, the story also consists of high human drama as uncles and nephews, and cousins and brothers fight with each other to gain control of an empire. In the end, it destroyed a family and the period that followed it was a calm before a storm, a prelude to the dawn of the dark age, the Kali Yuga. Grant Morrison's 18 Days brings all this action and drama to light, with wonderful illustrations by Mukesh Singh and a gripping script by Morrison. The book includes character descriptions, story bibles, commentaries, and the original animation scripts.
