Description
The HTC Desire S is a full touch smartphone and the first HTC device to come with Android 2.3 OS (Gingerbread). Powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor, the Desire S packs in 768 MB RAM and the latest version of the HTC Sense UI. The user interface brings to the phone features like flip to silence, maps with compass, zero wait map and others.
The smartphone sports a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash. The camera can record 720p HD videos at 30 fps. A front facing VGA fixed focus camera is also present in the handset for video calling purposes. Other features found in the phone camera are geo-tagging and face detection.
Design
The Desire S has unibody design with aluminum finish and weighs 130 g. The phone has a 3.7-inch full touchscreen with S-LCD display (480 x 800 pixel resolution). The various sensors included in the handset are Accelerometer, Proximity sensor and Ambient light sensor.Storage and Battery
This HTC smartphone ships with 1.1 GB of internal memory. The Android device is microSD 2.0 compatible, and external memory up to 32 GB can be added using a microSD card. The touchscreen device has a 1450 mAh Li-Ion standard battery that supports 4 hours of talk time.Internet and Connectivity

What a Sexy Device! Mind-blowing performance!!
I have been using this device extensively for the last 7 days & here's my impression so far ....
a) Camera - Just superb!! Awesome quality pictures & the best thing is it takes photos instantly without any time-delay whatsoever. Also when I zoom in on objects in the photo it does not get grainy. I really love the camera plus the stock effects & options go beyond expectations.

its the best phone i have used...and mind you i have used samsung galaxy, blackberry curve, sony ericsson etc.

Guys, I think we must buy a phone based on our priorities of functionalities required. I am going to compare Desire S, Galaxy S, Incredible S, Xperia Neo, and big daddys like Galaxy S2, Sensation and Iphone 4. As per my experience, I have come across all of these. I have been using this now for over 3months and i simply love this phone. It has become our preciousss :)
Strangely it is quite sturdy for a smartphone and has survived a drop from me very well :P
Feature packed and performance to the boot this is a very good value for money phone in the higher end of smart phones.
I would like to give it a 4.5star rating but since its not there i am giving four just for a few minor cons like low ringer volume and average camera. But otherwise its a Super s...

im quite satisfied with desire s ...it works great...worth buying it...it doesnt trouble you with hanging and all...loads quickly...the "RESTART" option speeds it up after multiple applications' usage....camera is awesome...HD recording enables u a better experience...the navigation and locations are accurate to street level(licences are to be bought)...all android market applications work really great...one very small problem(can be ignored) is it takes about 5-6 mins to load after restartin...

To start its a great phone and worth the price..
the performance is good, the battery life for normal use(messaging,calls,surfing) is pretty good it goes for 24 hrs , the battery drains fast when playing or watching videos

A really good phone, shouldn't have been discontinued
I am using this phone for the past three years and there are very minimal issues (and most are Android OS issues). It is very sturdy. The best feature is the camera, I have clicked some very amazing pictures which were more than comparable to any DSLR and definitely better than any point-n-shoot cameras. The screen is also fantastic and is ably supported by HTC Sense 3.0.
