Murch was born on the 12th of July 1943, in New York City. He completed his education from The Collegiate School, Manhattan. He later went on to pursue his degree from Johns Hopkins University (1961-65) in Liberal Arts. In the year 1965, Murch also attended the film school at the University Of Southern California. For his immense contribution to the field of sound editing, the author has been given a number of awards. In the year 1979, Murch was awarded with an Oscar for his sound mix in Apocalypse Now. He got married to Muriel Ann on the 6th of August, and the couple have 4 children together.
