Stable Performer
This processor is a good VFM performer. I am using this processor with the Asus P7H55 motherboard and constantly runs the processor at 4 Ghz.The 540 Runs cool with standard cooling fan and the temperature never exceeds 75.Highly stable.

A very capable proccy as well a potentail OC deamon !!!
Even though the processor is a couple of years old,
I say for an enthusiast, this is much better than the latest generation sandy bridge i3 2xxxx series since that proccy is locked and cannot be overclocked.
firstly,
1. Mostly sufficient for any thing you throw at it.
This is mainly because the windows architecture will not utilise many cores even if available (AMD 8 Core's main prob).
I ran this proccy against an i5 Quad and this wayy faster in single threaded applications such as audio co...

I bought this Core i3 processor 1st gen processor. I find it difficult to get the LGA1156 socket mother board.
I think I did a wrong choice.

i3-540 Processor
If u are on low budget then grab this eyes closed..... dont go for any other processors...... this packs a hell lot of a punch. Its performance is really constant. No need of extra cooler fan.
Pros:
1. 3.3 Ghz (base frequency)
2. Cool and efficient.
3. 7.2 WEI ratings (windows 8 pro)
Cons:
1. Intel hd 2500 (if you not a mid-level or hardcore gamer it's not a problem)
2. A little expensive, should be around 5-6k.
3. Can't be overclocked
Nevertheless its a good processor. You shouldn't hesita...
