About the price

Intel have traditionally offered "Extreme Edition" processors which come in black boxes and have an "X" in their names somewhere, for around $1000. If you look at the processors just below them in Intel's lineup, they're less than half the price. Look at 3930K, which is 37k compared to 3960X's 64k.

So why are the "Extreme Edition" processors so costly? That's because they're offered multiplier-unlocked. If you don't know what that means, or if you don't want an unlocked multiplier, they're n...

Nice But Consider only after reading this

Made for workstations not for gaming PCs

Even if you want to build a HIGH END Gaming rig go for the fastest quad core i7 available up to date.

REASON: No Game in the Market needs a 6 core cpu. All the games out there till date use 4 cores at most so don't waste your money Gamers, Invest the money you save on a good gpu/s and a cpu cooler, over-clock and make your rig a BEAST.

TRUST ME U WILL APPRECIATE MY ADVICE IN THE END.

Intel Xeon Will be A better . Indeed A master for games

The intel as we knw the name counts . This cpu the Lga 2011 is not the ivy bridge one of the ppl said in here .. ya its true . but its an extreme sandy bridge .. so ppl looking for insane gaming .. I suggest a xeon will be lot better as bcoz they handel servers as this cpu will suck when this is given xeons work .. so better xeon ftw .. for game ( insane one :P ) go for xeon ..

This is something to boast about.....

If you are looking at this, you are looking at a processor which can do any damn calculation before you could blink your eye.

I have a 980 x and trust me, other than running benchmarks, I was never able to get it to full load.

I tried running 3 instance of win rar 64 bit to compress files and even then, i could take it only up to 70 - 80%.
I ran 4 video conversions simultaneously and then it took it to 100%. But be practical, how many times do you do that other than while showing off to you...

INTEL i7 VS AMD BULLDOZER

AMD BULLDOZER REALLY PERFORMS LIKE A HEAVY BULL , WHILE I7 SEEMS LIKE A CUB BEFORE BULLDOZER .............................FOR PRICING YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT ''YOUR PC DON'T KNOW THAT HOW MANY BUCKS YOU SPEND ON IT , IT ONLY COUNTS THE CORES, THREADS, MHZs, AND RAMS SO IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND 10000+ ON A PROCESSOR ALWAYS GOTO AMD SIDE.............

Think Before Buying

This processor is an over kill with very high specification there is nothing wrong with the processor and it is one of the best in the market....

but seriously don't waste your money on this instead buy a processor below 10k
look in to AMD x2 or x4, or intel i5 series .....
AMD FX is also good but again over kill but price is very low compare to this.....

The main thing is yes specs looks very good but you will use only percentage of what this processor offers ..........

I will sure Buy This

This is a superb processor.
If I get money,sure I buy this.
This is extra-ordinary.
This is my dream........

Some features of this processor is attracting me.
Especially the memory support up to 32 GB.
15 MB Cache memory.
6 Cores with 12 threads.
You know the one thing I bother about this is it's power consumption. 130 W is quite larger but, it is necessary.

Do not rate 1 star, if you do not know its value.

A big lol for all those people who compare this i7 with AMD FX series and give this a 1 star.
If you guys have no knowledge of computer hardware, please stay away from them. You should not be assembling a PC yourself. Visit your nearest computer store.

This processor is not meant for home/office use. This is for those machines which require extreme processing. For example, web servers, VPS servers.
This is designed for CPU hungry tasks. You can run 100s of VMs on this processor without any l...
