The best and the worst book on Solid State Physics
This book is the standard book as well as the toughest book on this subject. As the author says in the preface he has try to introduce the reader to basic concepts, inform him of all modern developments and keep the size of the book minimum all at the same time. The end result is that the basic concepts are not explained at all.
