Iru Kodugal  (Movie, DVD)

Proficient in his work, expert director K. Balachandran directed yet another super hit movie with the best star cast in the year 1969. Iru Kodugal has most famous tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and Sawcar Janaki in the lead roles. Other actors in Iru Kodugal are Jayanathi, V.S. Raghavan and S.N. Lakshmi. Actor Nagesh adds to the movies comedy.

This family drama is about a man married to two women. The actor of the movie falls in love with the heroine and marries her in Kasi. On opposition from his family against the marriage, the hero moves to south India and marries Jayanthi on force by family. Back in Kasi, the heroine’s father prepares his daughter to study and work as a collector. The twist in the movie comes in when the actor joins as a clerk working under the new collector, the heroine. The further consequences comprise the rest of the movie.

The movie won National Film Award for best feature film in tamil in 1970.
