  • Description

Karma Sutra is a powerful document of the Indian street – a journey into the murky urban underbelly. It tells the stories of those who live on – and off – the street, an amazing cast of characters that includes sex workers, bar girls, hijras, Devadasis, drug addicts, runaways, migrants, hustlers, the homeless, the dying, the abandoned. Pulsating with raw realism and energy, the book tells gripping, heroic stories of heartbreak and hope, of exploitation and the will to survive. The stories echo the vibrance of George Orwell’s classic description of poverty and low-life in Down and Out in Paris and London, so that one can actually smell and feel the street, and all its risks and dangers.

    About the Author
Rajendar Menen, a journalist who has pounded Mumbai’s streets fearlessly for many years as part of his work on HIV AIDS, often walking on the wild side, sometimes on a razor’s edge, leaves no stone unturned – and no eye dry – as he talks to those fighting for their daily survival. In doing so, he opens the window on an India less examined.

A small r changes the perception of kama Sutra to Karma Sutra

Karma Sutra is all about the real people with whom we never get a chance to interact. We
might get a chance to encounter them on Juhu beach or any local train in Bombay but somehow we
never try to see what Rajendar is able to see and retrieve it from them. The next time I visit
Juhu beach in Bombay I would really feel that all the people there would have their own story
    to tell!

The author Rajendar Menen has the fantastic ability of narration. His write-ups take you right
    there to the charac...

Karmasutra- Adventures Of A Street Bum

Reading "Karmasutra- Adventures Of A Street Bum" was quite a "journey". The book is a true along with being a raw documentation of incidents which evokes emotions of every shade and that itself was quite an experience. Being "kind of aware" about such characters and also events present in the society, is nothing compared to know them closely through the pages of this book. Hats off to the author for being so brave and selfless- in every way to delve into people's environments and psyche, in ...

    karma sutra..

book is probably over hyped. it becomes quite monotonus, same settings, same characters. it fails on both the accounts it professes to illuminate. it neither has the edge of the seat, hair raising accountal of the dark under belly of mumbaii... neither it details and explores the curse of hiv, its roots, causes, eradication. all in a all a futile attempt. writer should take a clue from a beautiful thing by sonia faleiro, if he wants to continue to dabble and may be even dazzle in this genre.!!!

Karma with an 'r' - Read this twice over.

The book reeks of matchless honesty. Accompanying Rajendar on his journeys through this book will have you question, if not shatter, your own ideas of love and desires; virtues and vices; karma and destiny. If anything, this is a journey that will propel you to revisit your own life and actions.

    Great Book

it might put you into a little bit of sad mood. But in the end, a great book. Revealing the truth of the other side of society.
In a very close up way.
A nice way to express the world, somethings might disturb you.For me,it was shock revealing.
But in the end, its the great book.

    Karma Sutra

A real documentation of life on the streets. Hats off to the writer Rajendar Menen to have put in so many years of hard work. The last three chapters are especially engrossing. Life on the streets - no one would like to live such a life......we all know it exists but are so comfortable in our own lives that we never give it a second thought.
