A Masterpiece!!
This is the type of book which will leave a mark on you. It is a must read. It brings out the struggle of Van Gogh so vividly, the extremes of emotions and the immense labour that he had to put in to be what he is today. It is not only a biography of Van Gogh it gives a detailed account of the advent of the Impressionist movement itself. It is a masterpiece by Irving Stone. It made me search for the works of Van Gogh, Seurat, Cezzane..... A masterpiece for both art lovers and avid readers...

Intimate view of an Artists life
This book was suggested by a good friend of mine. The author has articulated the human side of Vincent Van Hughes one of the greatest modern Artists of all time. He is man driven by faith and deeply attached to his work. I really fell in love with him.
Vincent goes though the unimaginable low points, it is amazing that he manages to hold himself and continue his journey produce his master pieces.
It is a very interesting book. Irving stone shows his heart, the man & Artist Vincent Van gogh.

Inflamable book, must read for any serious reader!
Unputdownable book! The book gives an incisive insight into the world of painting and the struggle a painter faces to express oneself. The wonderful book makes you understand what a painting is all about, and also what is art. Wonderfully paints the picture of the 19th century Paris and the proletariat society of Europe that time. A must read for any serious reader!
