About Sudha Murty

Sudha Murty is an Indian entrepreneur, businesswoman and writer. She is well known for her books in Kannada and English: Dollar Sose, Runa, Old Man and his God and Wise and Otherwise among them.

Mrs. Murty completed her M.E. from the Indian Institute of Science and was the first female engineer hired at India's largest auto manufacturer TATA Engineering and Locomotive Company or TELCO. She is married to Infosys chairman N. R. Narayana Murthy.

Sudha Murty was born in 1950 in Shiggaon, in north Karnataka. She did her MTech in computer science. She is the founder of Infosys Foundation and is currently the chairperson of the Murty Trust. A prolific writer in English and Kannada, she has written novels, technical books, travelogues, collections of short stories and non-fictional pieces, and several bestselling titles for children. Her books have been translated into all the major Indian languages. Sudha Murty is the recipient of the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature. She received the Padma Shri in 2006, the Attimabbe Award from the Government of Karnataka for excellence in Kannada literature in 2011, the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 Crossword Book Awards and the Padma Bhushan in 2023. She has also received ten honorary doctorates. She weaves magical tales and especially enjoys writing for young readers. A generation of children has grown up reading her books, and her stories have been included in textbooks across schools in India.

Simplicity is kingdom of heaven

I like a quote suggested by father of my friend which reads "Simplicity is kingdom of heaven"

This is very true about Sudha Murthy's writing of a story book.

I started with this book in the afternoon and was so excited by each coming story that I could complete it by 11 PM.

Lot of people says that Sudha mainly writes for kids.

I would say adults like me whom no one ever read any story can learn enjoy reading her book and may be few to their kids.

Good read for adults too.

I love Sudha Murthy's books, for the fact that the language is simple and easy read and the stories. The stories reminded me of my childhood days, simple, not complicated and worth listening to.Each story has got an inner meaning, moral to it. Will the new generation children enjoy this book, have to taste and see.The stories are not very lengthy, which makes it a fast paced book.

Hats off!! to Smt.Sudha Murthy, this book indeed brings me back the memories of my childhood days.. simple narration,fun to read,contains morals,and most important appropriate for any age group.Her books are so simple and informative.A must read book.I have read many of her books malgudi days,wise and otherwise,mahashweta and now awaiting for the next book How i taught my grandmother to read and other stories. I am really delighted to have such a good collection in store...
