  • Description

Matilda is one of Roald Dahl’s most famous novels for children. It is a story about little Matilda Wormwood who is an extraordinary child with mean parents who think she is a foolish child. Her parents attitude encourages her to pull some pranks on them every time they say or do something wrong.

    Summary of the Book

Imagine having the gift of magical powers. That is exactly what the extremely intelligent Matilda possessed. However, she was never appreciated by her parents. She soon starts going to school where she is finally appreciated by her sweet and loving teacher, Miss Honey. She is in awe of Matilda’s intelligence and wants to move her to a higher class. She approaches the mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, who refuses. Matilda’s parents do not believe Miss Honey when she tries to explain to them the profound intelligence of their daughter. As the story goes on, the evil headmistress who bullies all the students and punishes them physically is taught a lesson that she will never forget by young Matilda.

    Roald Dahl at his best.

It is difficult to find words to describe this book. It is a work of literary beauty and still easily accessible to any child. We get engrossed with the protagonist (Matilda) and root for her all the way through. In an age when children are too busy on facebook, twitter or in front of the idiot box, this book could really inspire them to keep reading. This is, in one word, AWESOME.
