  • Description

This market-leading textbook continues its standard of excellence and innovation built on the solid pedagogical foundation that instructors expect from Adel S. Sedra and Kenneth C. Smith.

All material is thoroughly updated to reflect changes in technology-CMOS technology in particular. These technological changes have shaped the book's organization and topical coverage, making it the most current resource available for teaching tomorrow's engineers how to analyze and design electronic circuits.

The "must-cover" topics are placed first in each chapter; the more specialized material appears last. The first five chapters, Part I, are organized to form a coherent single-semester introductory course. Similarly, the next four chapters, Part II, present a body of material for a second one-semester course. The final four chapters, Part III, contain significant topics that can be used as enhancements or substitutes for some of the material in earlier chapters as well as resources for project or thesis work.

    In the CD

    • A free student version of PSpice 9.2 Lite Edition (SPICE simulator) and new industry-based design examples
    • Input files for all SPICE examples in the book
    • Bonus text material of specialized topics?GaAs devices and circuits, TTL circuits

    Key Features

    • M Operational Amplifiers: Logarithmic and antilogarithmic amplifiers are now included. Also covered are analog multipliers, sample-and-hold circuits, and the current-controlled voltage source, voltage-controlled voltage source, and voltage-controlled current source, current controlled voltage source, and current-controlled current source configurations of the operational amplifier.
    • MOSFETs: Constant-field and constant-voltage MOSFET scaling as well as short channel effects and recent scaling trends are now included.
    • CMOS Circuits: AOI and OAI gates are now explained
    • Tuned Amplifiers: Class C tuned amplifiers are now covered
    • Oscillators: Ring, twin-T, Clapp, and Miller oscillators are now discussed
    • Power Amplifiers: Transformer-coupled power amplifiers, class C and D power amplifiers as well as the class S amplifier have been discussed
    • Passive components in analog circuits, active loads, as well as voltage references are now discussed.

BIBLE OF ELECTRONICS..... BUT NOT FOR NOVICES

I have gone through several texts on electronics such as Boylestad,Malvino, Milman Halkias and some of the Indian authors' as well but I found this as more explanatory and concept building. The numerical examples are so designed to test your acquired knowledge on the topic that you can benchmark your extent of concepts understood.Equally good is the chapter end questions.

But if your are studying electronics for the first time then its imperative for you to have some basic knowledge and conce...

    Breaking Electronics !!!

It is the best book of Electronics Devices & Circuits. The matter given is so much comprehensive and at the same time consolidated and the best thing about it is that it'll never let you become off track of concepts. It is a advice that don't go after Millman-Halkias before having this book in your mind.
It is prerequisite for the Millman-Halkias.
This book will make you feel like the Oracle of Electronics on an undergraduate level.
You'll definitely end up like Eminem of Electronics.

A typical standard book for electronics

Undoubtedly it's a great book in the field of electronics. But I suggest before going to reed the book you should have basic idea about electronics devices (like diode, transistor, amplifier and so on) because it starts from upper level. I am telling about myself, I used to read boylested for the subject "Analog Electronics" an keep it as a reference book. Once you build the basic understanding then go for it. It'll help to strong your concept and you'll learn so many thing. I must say that ...

Excellent and Comprehensive Book - If this is not your first time with the subject

I'm only on chapter 1 but I really do feel this is one really good book. I have several reasons.

    1. The authors give an high level description of electronic circuits in Chapter 1 itself. It builds a lot of intuition on Amplifiers right at the beginning. I would guess that the remaining chapters, fill in the gaps and get into the details.

    2. There are Practice Problems embedded within each Chapter. I love textbooks which follow this format (Hayt & Sadiku do this in their books on electromagn...

If you are a beginner in electronics, do a favor to yourself, buy it.

I'm a physics student (not an electrical engineer). It is the easiest book in the subject I've seen so far. Of course, I suggest reading basic solid state-electronics part from other books like Simon M. Sze. But when you are done with that, this book takes you through all (not necessarily complete coverage of every topic but the basic idea is presented with utmost clarity) required practical applications. I believe there are enough examples and lots of problems left for the reader.
