A novel like a movie ...Chander Pahar

This is the first adventure novel which I read, written by an Indian author. This book was written back in 1930â??s and I can say still its has not lost its relevance. The thing which I wonder is, Bibhutibhushan never traveled outside of India but he has given a magnificent portrayal of African jungles and the deserts of Kalahari.

And this translation is worthwhile and will be a good treat for those who really love Bengali translations.

Bibhuti Bhushan - A Class Apart

Well, I'm not a Bengali but I am a HUGE fan of everything Bengali and Bibhutibhushan, well, he's just a class apart. This is the English adaptation of Chander Pahar and the translation is pretty darn good. It conveys the story perfectly. I don't know how the Bengali version was, but Bibhuti's attention to detail takes you on an African Safari like no other just by sitting on your couch!! Brilliant, breathtaking, gut wrenching!!
