F4 was cheaper, and the reviews claim that the lens is very sharp.
The Non VR (older) lens is not just lacking the VR functionality, it also is a bit softer wide open.
F2.8 VR is costly, but sharp even wide open. and has better bokeh than the f4 version. It focuses faster in low light compared to the other two lens.
