Works at its own wish
Works with very selective micro USB cables. iPhone would at times not detect and hence not charge, the connector is supposed to work irrespective of which side is up but the one with a USB mark up only works. If you try to sync your iPhone using the converter and a micro USB cable that does not work at all.
