Selected Short Stories Anton Chekhov (English, Paperback, Chekhov Anton)
A selection of short stories from the master of the form, Anton Chekhov’s Selected Short Stories brings readers the experience of a lifetime through the words of the man who knew life in all its hues.
Summary of the Book
Anton Chekhov’s short stories examine themes which ring true even in the current time. In The Bishop, he tells the story of Bishop Pyotr, whose struggle with his illness combined with his feelings as his life fades against the backdrop of Holy Week, reveals how he has alienated himself from everyone dear to him. Ominous imagery, and the illusion of good times mark Chekhov’s words as he spins a tale to evoke our deepest emotions. This collection brings readers other stories, collecting: The Letter, Easter Eve, A Nightmare, The Murder, and The Steppe.
