Inspired by European Sports sedans, Sennheiser HD598 is built in the Sports Car theme. The HD598 is made from high Gloss Burl wood headband encased in matching beige leatherette headpad. The headband is flexible for greater fit. The enveloping earpads are made from plush, soft velvety fabric called Velour, providing unrivalled comfort for extended listening pleasure and effective outside noise block.
The circumaural HD598 headphones are built with Neodymium magnet systems with Duofol diaphragms using EAR technology, to deliver a rich spatial sound experience.The diaphragms are held with highly constant cellulose fleece that keep harmonic distortion low. The Surround deflectors enhance the spatial sound experience.
The Sennheiser HD498 comes with single cable made from Oxygen Free Copper wire, that are easily manageable. The cable is 3 meters in length, providing adequate mobility. The Sennheiser HD598 uses a 3.5 mm jack for connectivity.

Only for pure audiophile, superb natural sound
Low/Bass--> Very tight, sub bass is not that good.
Mid----------->forward and very good.
High---------->very good , not too high and harsh and designed not to damage hearing.
To conclude it has a vast sound stage and natural sound to adjust to all type of music.
Warning-----> This is not for Bass head and colorful sound listening people. Just dont waste your money because you can...

The sound quality is great. Since this open is phone I dont feel the sound pressure. It sounds little punchy and sound seperation is good. The bass is just right, but I am not big bass fan. I use this only at home because leak is high due to openness. I use bose for office.

Better than HD650 for Music
HD 598 is more 'musical' than HD 650. HD650 is a reference class headphone. It has a kind of black background, where each instrument plays separately with precision. However, the HD598 with its forward mids, and being not so analytical as the 650, sounds more pleasing to the ears. HD 650 has better resolution (details), but smaller soundstage....
