Silver Linings Playbook is an enchanting and heartwarming debut novel by Matthew Quick.

    Summary of the Book

The Silver Linings Playbook is a touching, poignant and riotous story of how one man regains his memory and accepts the magnitude of his wife’s betrayal. The book is narrated through the eyes of Pat Peoples, a former history teacher, who after spending a considerable number of years in Baltimore psychiatric hospital moves to his childhood home. During the years he spent in the hospital he formulated a theory that life is a movie produced by God and his happy ending will be the return of his estranged wife, Nikki. But no one will talk to him about Nikki at his parent’s place and all his friends are preoccupied with family. And to add to his woes, Philadelphia Eagles keep losing all the games, making his father moody and his new therapist recommends adultery as a form of therapy. When Pat meets Tiffany, a young widow with clinical depression, she offers to act as a liaison between Pat and Nikki. But only on a few conditions – he should give up watching football and perform with her in year’s Dance Away Depression competition, and promise to keep all this under wraps. In this brilliantly written novel, the author takes us inside Pat’s mind showing us the world from his endearing perspective. The result is a moving and amusing story which will make for an enthralling and riveting read.
