This smartphone is dust resistant and waterproof with an impressive IP55/IP58 rating. In compliance with IP55 and IP58, the Xperia ZR is protected against the ingress of dust and is waterproof. Provided that all ports and covers are firmly closed, the phone is (i) protected against low pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP55; and/or (ii) can be kept under 1.5 metres of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP58. The phone is not designed to float or work submerged underwater outside the IP55 or IP58 classification range. This may void your warranty.
Click images for 30 minutes at a stretch underwater as you take long laps in the pool. You may take it as deep as 1.5 meters, just be careful about keeping all the micro USB ports and other openings must be shut.

I have been using this phone for almost 3 weeks...and now I feel I am in a good stage to give a comprehensive review of this phone and help others who are contemplating of buying this phone...

Pros of Z over ZR.
1.ZR's Display is smaller than Z's 5inch.
2.But Z had 442ppi but ZR had only 319ppi.
3.Z had 1920 x 1080 but ZR had 720 x 1280 resolution
4.2MP front facing but ZR had 0.3MP.
5.16GB internal memory than ZR's 8GB.
6.Difference of 30 mah in battery which Z claims.

Not Exactly, Sony says its a Water Proof phone, but the parts are not Water Proof..it has openable back, and removable battery.
they mean to say the water doesnot go in to mobile parts if u close all the doors (Audio jack input, Charging pin input)..any way its very good than other mobiles which becomes dead for a spoon of water
What about Display ?

I opted for Sony cuz I was looking for a good cam and good music player that comes packagd in a feel-good UI, all fitting in a neat budget - dats all. Sony Xperia ZR was a choice well-made to comply with all that, I'd say. I did a lotta research on Moto X, other Sony phones, Asus Zenfone, Moto G.

As many have said it heats up if you watch even couple of songs on full brightness,use 3G for more than 10 minutes,etc
another thing i noticed was that its flash is not as bright as xperia u which I had (compared it side to side) which has its own advantages and disadvantages, front cam should have been better (only drawback hardware wise)

ZL has a better screen(full HD) and 16 GB internal storage which is quite important.
