Binding is good. Book is awesome. I will suggest do see youtube videos side by side of MIT on same topic

I am currently going through the first chapter but this book is really good.
Everything till now is done using Scheme in the book, you dont need to have prior knowledge of it to read it.

If you want to implement the code snippets, you will need the mit-scheme gnu compiler but unfortunately it does not work on windows. There are many online IDEs that you can use though.

Anyone serious about programming should have this as one of the books in their shelves...This book is a comprehensive introduction into basic programming concepts in detail, and this new edition covers even topics like concurrency etc.

Along with "The Art of Programming" by Donald Knuth, this book will open you inner eyes and make you a precise, no non-sense programmer..ot just a coder or a so called software developer... There is a big difference you see..! :)

In short, the guy who voted 2/5 for this barely knows anything about theoretical computer science. Just buy this book without question. The authors are pioneers in the field, known for their work and contributions.

SICP teaches its readers to decompose programs into independent procedures, separate out the data representation from its usage, thereby adding a layer of abstraction there and write computer programs in a modularized fashion. The exercises are challenging and aid users in understanding the material. And scheme is a simple but elegant language to work through this book.

A legendary book and must have in every programmer's bookshelf..

SICP is the book which every programmer should read.
After completing this you can really appreciate the beauty of programming.
One thing you should know that..writing is not so beginner friendly...
But this book provides greater content quality...

There are 2 kind of peoples who like SICP and who don't. The reason is because usually people are interested in cookbook like books (teach me blah blah in 10 mins), that's why they can't admire beauty of SICP. Its a great text if you want to know innards, how computer science beats. Highly recommended if you truly love computer science.
