Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a 10-day Hindu festival that marks the birth of the elephant-headed God, Ganesha. This festival is celebrated on the fourth day (chaturthi) of the month of Bhadrapada (August-September) which is the sixth month of the Hindu calendar. Lord Ganesha is worshipped before starting any new project or venture as he is believed to clear the obstacles and pave the way for success in life. The large elephant head of Lord Ganesha symbolizes wisdom, understanding, and a discriminating intellect that one must possess to attain perfection in life.
Ganesha is also worshipped as the Remover of Obstacles. It is believed that when the idol of Ganesha is taken out for immersion, it takes away with it the various obstacles of the house and destroys them along with the visarjan. This signifies the removal of obstacles and the beginning of a new journey.
This year's Ganesh festival saw the popularity of eco-friendly celebrations. It took 63 days to make the 63 ft clay idol and six hours to dissolve the idol. This highlights the importance of preserving the environment while celebrating festivals.
In conclusion, Ganesh Chaturthi is a popular festival celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm in India. It is a time to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha and remove the obstacles in our path. The eco-friendly celebrations of this year's festival signify the importance of preserving the environment while celebrating our traditions.
