For Gate Ies taking as basics it was good book....
Covers good questions..

This is a great book and contains solved problems of almost all shapes and sizes. The first few chapters are extremely well explained and are rival to none. The later part of the book where the chapters are based on hydraulic machines are not very well explained and i'd prefer bansal there. Otherwise its a great book especially for civil engineers.
The packing was rough and the book looked like it took quite a few hits... negative points for flipkart delivery...

Thanks to Prof. Pati for writing such an excellent book. After studying it, I thought all the students studying mechanical/civil should go through this book to grasp the subject in a right way. According to me, salient features of the text are as follows:
1. Equal emphasis on theory and numerical.
2. Problems are solved considering all aspects that come under its purview.
3. Basic physics behind every concept is rightly illustrated.
4. Through out the text, the language used is very lucid.
