  • Description
Father Damien Karras: 'Where is Regan?' Regan MacNeil: 'In here. With us.' The terror begins unobtrusively. Noises in the attic. In the child's room, an odd smell, the displacement of furniture, an icy chill. At first, easy explanations are offered. Then frightening changes begin to appear in eleven-year-old Regan. Medical tests fail to shed any light on her symptoms, but it is as if a different personality has invaded her body. Father Damien Karras, a Jesuit priest, is called in. Is it possible that a demonic presence has possessed the child? Exorcism seems to be the only answer... First published in 1971, The Exorcist became a literary phenomenon and inspired one of the most shocking films ever made. This edition, polished and expanded by the author, includes new dialogue, a new character and a chilling new extended scene, provides an unforgettable reading experience that has lost none of its power to shock and continues to thrill and terrify new readers.

A must read for every horror lover

An exceptionally well narrated story, The Exorcist is one of the most detailed and elaborate account on possession.

The tension in the story takes no time to jump out of the book and into the reader's mind. The plight of the victim and those around her is transported with magical ease by the author.

It kept me hooked through every page and I wouldn't surprised if it is somewhere on top of the list of books which should be completed in a single reading.

It is compelling, fast, unimaginably ...

    compelling to read!!!

This book basically deals with demonic possession in early 70s with relevance to, much hated, black mass practice in its backdrop. Up to " the beginning" it failed to embark the mystery content... And i just skimmed through the pages. But with the beginning of " the edge" , plot has deepened and took to its real flavour. Eccentric behavior of child, was tried to be explained by some psychological disease but failed. Later it was realised that the girl need a priest not doctor. In a while few...

    Pretty good

I'll say it's actually one of the best books out there in this genre. I would have definitely given it a 5 star. But, the book which I received was a little bit torn on the left top corner of the cover side. Apart from this, an extremely recommended book, at least for those who like horror stories. Its neither a complete beginner's book nor a very high level book. Go for it. You will not regret your purchase😊

If u luv to get scared then go Exorcist

I watched The Exorcist movie way back and it made a serious impact on me. After few years I thought of approaching it again via text and believe me, it still got me again. The Exorcist is not a simpleton horror tale that u read/watch and get scared/entertained. It is a harsh commentary on our social scenario, on our Postmodern society that it has turned out to be. If u r interested into giving ur thoughts and seeing things beyond their appearances, read Exorcist then. As far as I go, I loved it.
