This book is a psychological thriller that revolves around the brutal murder of three members of a family.

    Summary of the Book

A gruesome crime has taken place in Tumba, Sweden. A couple and their daughter have been murdered in a gruesome manner, and their son is in the hospital with several stab wounds. Detective Joona Linna is on his way and is determined to solve the mystery behind this murder. However, the only witness, the couple’s son, is in a critical condition in the hospital. As he is in a deep state of shock, the little boy, Josef Ek, cannot be questioned by anybody. Linna, desperate to get the boy to speak, hires a hypnotist, Dr. Erik Maria Bark. Linna believes that this is not the end of the attack as the couple’s oldest daughter is alive and well as she lives separately. The detective needs to know what happened from Josef in order to go ahead with his investigation. He takes Erik’s help and the hypnotist start to get answers from the boy. What he finds out is more shocking than the murders. The ghost of Erik’s past have somehow come back to haunt him and his son is eventually kidnapped. He suspects that this is linked with the attack of Ek’s family. He now needs to find a way to get rid of the old memories. He takes Linna’s help to find out what happened to his son and what really happened at the scene of the murder.

Good Thriller but could have been Great! Actual Rating- 3.5

Good Thriller but could have been Great! Actual Rating- 3.5 Stars!
I didn't like Joona Linna (Detective) because I couldn't connect to his character rather I felt more connected to Erik Maria Bark (Hypnotist) and his wife Simone Bark. I liked the way we get a glimpse at Erik's past (10 years ago) and slowly make the connection between what happened then to what is happening now. This story was slow paced but surprisingly I enjoyed that.
We got to know Erik as a father, husband, imperfect hum...

    Excellent Book to Read

I have read a lot of reviews about this book saying that it is not translated well and that some pages were missing. Fortunately, I didn't go though any of these issues. All the pages are intact and the story did seem to lack a bit of proper grammar, but not as exaggerated as they are mentioned in the other reviews. Another issue that a few people came up with was the fast paced transition of character point of views. But hey, that is not a thing to complain. If you've ever went through an in...

    Great product

One of the best Crime, Thriller, Suspense book I've ever read. once started reading this book, it will keep you hooked up till the end, leave you wondering what will happen next. Coming to the Quality of book, I bought paperback edition which is not likely to be awesome but you have to handle it with care. The paper used is thin and the printing is good. As it is translated from Swedish language to English There are some minor errors; say grammatical errors. That's all. I received the book in...

Good Story which gets a bit slow in the middle.

A very good plot with triple murders and their chilling description. The story gets slow in the middle but picks up really well towards the end.
Overall a good read for readers interested in thrillers.

Poor translation. But a good thriller.

This has faced a lot of criticism for the poor translation but i believe this book is upto the standards of The silence of the lambs. The plot is gripping and the characters are well established. The interesting plot promises us a dramatic climax but the author fails in the climax. I feel author could have done better in the climax.
Positives- Strong plot and well established characters
Negatives- poor translation and sub standard climax.

    Could be way better

Poor translation, weak plot, lack of a strong character.. Thought it'd be a Stieg Larsson type..Nowhere near.. Joana Linna was supposed to play a key role but ended up solving the abduction of Benjamin Bark. I was expecting the writer to unfold the mysteries of Josef Ek's side . How Josef and Evlyn ended up in Simone's apartment though only Lydia had the duplicate keys? How did Eric get the clues from his past experiments on hypnotist groups? It simply just cant happen by recalling the events...
