Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to promote Peace… One School at a Time is a memoir by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin.

    Summary of the Book

Mortenson turned into a humanitarian from being a registered nurse and then a mountain-climber. He resolved to reduce poverty and promote education for girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He even founded the Central Asia Institute, which supervised the building of more than 171 schools according to its 2010 report. In this book, Mortenson asserts that poverty in places like Pakistan and Afghanistan can be eradicated by educating the masses, especially women. This title is compiled by David Oliver Relin as a journalist interviewing and observing Mortenson and his work. The book remained on The New York Times nonfiction bestseller list for four years.

    More than an inspiring story

'Three Cups of Tea' by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin is one of those books which makes you want to get to work right away after reading it. Mortenson's amazing journey of how he built schools in remote villages of Pakistan is nothing more than an expression of true human spirit, persistence and most importantly philanthropy. The message that the book carries about how terrorism should be fought with proper education rather than weapons strikes a chord in every right-thinking person's ...

One inspiring story that will reinstall your faith in the goodness and selflessness of humanity!

I recommend this book to every book lover and casual reader. This account of Dr. Mortensen is brilliant non-fiction presented in such a well written manner that you cant help but applaud at the hardships faced by him. It constantly poses the question - what really motivates people like Dr. Mortensen? It leaves you with immense respect for him.
I wish lots of success to his endeavor of spreading peace through the poverty stricken hinterland of Pak and Afghanistan - one school at a time!

A book that EVERY LITERATE PERSON MUST READ.

I was browsing through books at a bookstore when I stumbled onto this one, one look and read of the back cover and I just couldnt put it down. I bought it with a wish and a prayer that it better deliver on what it promised. It did and then some!!

Its the true story of how(and why)a lower middle class American took up the cudgels to build schools in remote Pakistan & (told in this book's sequel: Stones into Schools) Afghanistan. I won't get into the story aspect 'cos its there in the summary...

    Really Good

It is an absolute master piece, you got to appreciate the fact that a guy from LA goes to a village in Pakistan where no one on earth would dare to go and without a penny with him he started 50 schools both in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Brilliant story,, truly inspiring. The true word to humanitarian. Long live Greig Sahib.
