    Tintin In America is the third book in The Adventures of Tintin series written and illustrated by Herge. This book relates the story of Tintin as the young reporter travels to the United States of America.

    Summary Of The Book

    Tintin In America relates another one of the interesting adventures of the reporter Tintin. It was originally published as a black and white comic strip in a Belgian children’s newspaper supplement called Le Petit Vingtième in 1931. 

    In Tintin in America, Tintin has to go to America to create a report on the crime organizations in Chicago. The story is about how he visits this new place, what he explores there, and how he meets and captures Al Capone.   

    Belgian writer and illustrator Herge writes this comic series with a purpose. The book depicts the time around the Great Depression when organized crime took hold of Chicago. Moreover, the real-life problems associated with this organized crime have been depicted in this book.

    About Herge

    Georges Prosper Remi is an award-winning Belgian writer, illustrator, and artist. Famously known as the creator of Tintin, he used to publish comics under the pseudonym of Herge.

    He also wrote other comic book series such as Quick & Flupke and Jo, Zette and Jocko.

    Born on 22nd May 1907, Herge is known as a national symbol in his native country and is also termed as the true “personification of Belgium”. For his contribution to the literary world, he has been awarded various awards. His books have been translated into various languages because of their popularity. He is popularly known as the writer and illustrator of The Adventures of Tintin series that consists of 24 books in total, out of which the 24th book remained incomplete because of his sudden death.

    • Herg(Georges Remi) was born in Brussels on 22nd May 1907. His artistic pseudonym comes from his initials spelled backwards (R.G., as pronounced in French). Over the course of 54 years, he would complete 23 albums. Sadly, he died on 3rd March 1983, leaving his 24th album, Tintin and Alph-Art, unfinished.

    One of my favs

    One of the early Tintin books. This revolves around the story of Tintin and his dog Snowy, when they travel to America and get involved in political disturbances, conspiracies, tribal movements and the then social changes. This book is before the introduction of captain Haddock and professor Calculus, so Tintin is the only central character.
