India’s External Intelligence: Secrets Of Research And Analysis Wing [RAW] presents an insider’s account of the mysterious proceedings in RAW, India’s top intelligence agency.

    Summary Of The Book

RAW or Research Analysis Wing is India’s premier intelligence agency, the equivalent of CIA or KGB. But despite being a crucial part of the external intelligence system of a democracy as big as India, RAW is surprisingly well-shielded from parliamentary and public scrutiny.
Through India’s External Intelligence: Secrets Of Research And Analysis Wing [RAW], Major General V. K. Singh seeks to lift the veil off the face of RAW and reveal the activities proceeding underneath. Unlike other authors who have made similar attempts in the past, Major Singh has the advantage of an insider’s perspective. He sheds light on some of the most glaring anomalies that threaten the credibility of India’s top intelligence agency, and therefore threaten India’s national security.

Major Singh explores how equipment was procured at exorbitant prices by fudging technical parameters, how moles are recruited by foreign intelligence agencies, how money changes hands at the cost of security, and how a lack of accountability has permeated the entire system. He also writes about death of a brilliant RAW officer named Vipin Handa, and the ongoing rivalry between the Investigation Bureau (IB) and RAW.
With this tell-all, the author seeks to make the public aware of the blatant misuses of the taxpayers’ money, urging Indian citizens to fight for increased accountability in their top intelligence agency.

India’s External Intelligence: Secrets Of Research And Analysis Wing [RAW] was published in 2007 by Manas Publications.

CorRAWption, RAW life and few other issues

A very descent book. A must read for those who wants to get acquainted with the life in RAW. This book is not about the operations of RAW, but the life in it and about the use of our tax and funds getting implemented in various RAW activities. Transfiguring itself from an organisation in the shadows of clandestine activities with little government control, RAW is certainly changing. Life in RAW is more open than it was previous.
There are a lot of names in this book, the names of the colleag...

    NOT WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTING.

As an armyman has written it. I will write the review Army way, in points.
    1. There are no Secrets you will come about.
    2. Will explain only the Hiearchy in RAW and not thier actual work areas.(no details).
    3. Much like a personal memoranda than a book for the public.
    4. only the prejudice between various Intelligence Agencies Shown(that too in a very concise manner).
    5. NOT quite the thing you are expecting.

    AWESOME BOOK!

A GREAT, 'MUST-BUY'-types book for any and everyone, who is out there, searching for 'something' informative on R&AW.
The learned author exposes many unexpected things in it.
A book which can lay the foundation for the much-required change in the 'system'.

OK Book, about RAW - history, corruption etc. Not worth Rs. 495

Book about RAW - history, corruption etc. Nicely written. Tells very little about RAW's successes or failures - mostly about corruption, nepotism, and the general lack of accountability within RAW.

    You could read it once.
    Not worth Rs. 495

Its not about the Espionage missions of RAW but focuses on Corruption in RAW

Before reading this I thought it will be all about the various missions carried out by RAW but once i read it I understood that the intention of the writer while writing this book was to expose the corrupt practices in our external intelligence agency to the taxpayer. But I recommend this book as a must read for all those who want to know more about our Intelligence services. CBI has registered a case against a German firm mentioned in this book for alleged bribery taking the book as an evide...
