Simple to play, Urban Freestyle Soccer requires the user to control his or her players through the keyboard. Apart from just dribbling past the opponents and passing the ball, one can also play dirty. The player can knock opposing players down with punches and kicks. One can also wield objects such as trash cans from the surrounding environment and thrash the opposition with it.

Urban Freestyle Soccer offers a wide array of game types such as the classic Freestyle Mode and the Street Challenge Mode. In Turf Wars Mode, the player has to select a team to be a part of; the various teams include Skater Boys, Tagging Crew, Hardcore Honeys, Shakedown, Offensive Behaviour and BMX Crew. Once the player has picked a team, a Turf War begins where the player challenges others on their home pitches. Each team has a specific themed playing ground. After winning a game, the player is given a certain amount of skill points which can be used to upgrade the attributes of the player’s team. A partly linear Campaign Mode presents the player with the option to attack certain locations or turfs. Once all the rival gangs are defeated, Home Turf Mode is activated. In Home Turf Mode, the player has to defend his area from the opposition. The Street Challenge Mode requires the user to make his or her way through a league by amassing points with scored goals and victories. Freestyle and VS Mode are one-on-one matches.
