PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS Zucchini seeds will perform best in constantly warm soil temperatures in the range of 20 to 22°C. Sow the seeds at a depth of ½ inches in well-draining soil mix rich in humus. The seeds should start germinating in 7 to 14 days in ideal conditions. Zucchini light green is a greedy variety and adding some compost to your soil prior to planting will definitely help. You can also add some chicken manure or cow dung soil mix as top dressing once the plants have set. GROWING REQUIREMENTS PESTS & DISEASES Like other summer squashes, Zucchini plants are susceptible to fungal diseases like leaf blight, brown spotting, downy mildew and bacterial diseases like blossom end rot. In addition to this, aphids, cabbage looper, cucumber beetle, leaf miners, and thrips can affect the zucchini plants. Clear out all weeds before planting and use organic neem spray to manage pests. SOIL Zucchini will grow best on fertile well-draining soil rich in humus. Mulching can help in increasing the level of humus in soil. SPOT Plant zucchini in full sun for better fruiting. TEMPERATURE Ideal soil temperature should be between 20 to 30°C for germination of seeds. WATERING Water zucchini vines prudently so as not to wet the leaves and stem which can cause fungal diseases.
