Ankahee  (DVD Hindi)

Based on a Marathi play by C. T. Kholkar and directed by Amol Palekar, Ankahee is a Hindi drama film that stars Deepti Naval, Filmfare Award-winner Shriram Lagoo, Vinod Mehra and Amol Palekar herself. This movie won itself a National Film Award and a Filmfare Award. Ankahee tells the story of a noted Indian astrologer named Jyotibhaskar Pandit Satyanarayan Chaturvedi who is very accurate with his predictions of the future. Jyotibhaskar leads a happy life with Devki, his wife, and Nandu, his son. Nandu, being of a marriageable age, loves a woman named Sushma Chatopadhya and wishes to get married to her, however, his father predicts that Nanu will have two wives in his life, with the first one dying in 11 months after the betrothal. Being well-educated, Nandu must now decide if he should marry the love of his life or believe in his father’s prediction and stay away from her.
