I was skeptical about buying this at first , but after reading a couple of reviews on internet I knew it would be a good buy.
This is an EF lens , and it works on both full and cropped sensor cameras. I have used this on 550D for nearly 2 months , hence my review is limited to its performance on cropped-ones.
Buy it , without thinking twice , if you want to do :
* candid photography (mainly outdoors)
* portraits
* covering sports like basketball , tennis etc
* picnics , parties , outings

Mind-blowing purchase
Been using it for over 6 months. Most premium Canon lens in this range even though it released more than 28 years ago. Build quality is amazing. Perfect example of old is gold. If you want to go for your first prime lens for an APS-C buy this one instead of the 50mm. Something I realized after buying both 50 and 85.

One of the best lens for portrait.
I have not purchased this lens from Flipkart but from cannon showroom. It is a excellent lens for portrait photography. Sharpness is unimaginable. I have purchased it after reading so many good reviews in the internet. And I think the reviews are true. This lens is indeed exceptional. If you are an armature and want to take some excellent professional standard portrait photos and have budget then this lens is for you.

Brilliant piece of Glass
First kudos to Flipkart shipping. I was simply astounded when the delivery came to my home. Just 2 days from the day of order. Now to the lens. I think its worth every penny. 3D images from this lens
I have many lenses but this one does some magic to the images. I can spot images taken using this lens without the need to look at the exif data.
