  • Description

Slaughterhouse-Five is a classic satirical novel about the Second World War and a soldier's journey through time by Kurt Vonnegut.

    Summary of the Book

Billy Pilgrim is a man out of time, a disoriented, fatalistic, and ill-trained American soldier who abhors fighting. Captured by the Germans during the Battle of Bulge, he barely escapes death and a series of events lands him in a disused slaughterhouse in Dresden. He survives the bombing of Dresden and reaches the United States after the war, receiving honorable discharge from service. He soon marries Valencia Merble, whose father owns the Ilium School of Optometry. Much later, on the wedding night of their daughter, Billy is abducted by aliens and whisked away to a planet billions of miles away from Earth called Tralfamadore where he meets a porn star, Montana Wildhack, and they have a child together. He is soon sent to relive moments from his past or future, and the events of those moments reshape history forever.

    Nice book..

i would suggest you to read this anti war book.. the authors style of writing is unique and i have found so.. the style of writing slows down your pace of comprehension, though simple words and best formation of sentences.

Slaughter house 5 is thus a must read classic that sets you in war time...

The condition of the product is good, with nice tight package.. The best quality cover and pages at this price.

My rating is on a scale of 5 points...

    Very Good

It's been sometime and I don't remember when the book was delivered to me but it was in excellent condition and Flipkart did deliver it on time (while putting my other orders on the back burner).

The book is good. It's mostly revolves around a guy and how his experiences in the army made him go crazy, the type of stuff they don't show in the war movies. It's easy to pick up and read and the writing style keeps you glued to your seat till you finish the book. Give it a shot.

    Wonderful

Cult classic of postmodernism. The absurdity of war can only be conveyed with the apt usage of postmodern techniques. The style of the novel has paid much justice to the theme depicted. Dresden, slaughter house, prisoners of war, tralfamadore and the philosophy of 'so it goes'. simply superb...

    Excellent

Since 2019 I am fascinated with these Time Travel/Wraps, paradox, aliens👽 concepts.. And so I bought this. The book is mixture of Time wraps, Aliens, War concepts. There is no such end or beginning concepts in the storyline. This is slightly different. Not gonna lie, Initially I was getting confused , and started feeling bored while reading because of the WAR details.. But later I started enjoying, could feel the WAR situation, could visualize the story character .. I am going to suggest you...

    Brilliant, Flawless and Sad.

The way of story telling is very similar to Catch-22. The theme satirically addresses war and the conditions which people face in it. In war the soldiers fighting who are tired of all the war is portrayed beautifully. Their state of mind is just that they don't care what is happening to them it doesn't whether they are hungry, unhygienic, sad, happy, since they are not thinking about any of these things. Nor they are thinking about the war, when will it end, they are completely blank and do w...

    Worth the money

I'm just now finishing up chapter two and I'm tempted to call it insufferable but calling it annoying and sad I think would suffice. The themes of time and mortality are all interesting in how he frames it as all happening at once and has always happened and will always happen. (Sounds like the first season of True Detective psychobabble) which I like but I'm tired of reading the phrase 'so it goes' already. I'm not very motivated to continue reading it other than curiosity and to be able to ...
