Zombi (Marathi) 17th Edition is an autobiographical work by the popular Maharashtrian writer, Anand Yadav.

Summary Of The Book

Anand Yadav was one of the first Marathi writers to concentrate exclusively on writing about rural life, in a genre known as Marathi Gramin Sahitya. His books depict the daily routines and travails and experiences of life in a village.

Zombi (Marathi) 17th Edition, which roughly translated, means struggle, is the first part of a four part autobiography by Yadav. It is followed by Nangarani (cultivation of the soil), Gharabhinti (the walls of the house), and Kachawel (a vine of glass pieces).

Zombi (Marathi) 17th Edition chronicles the early part of the author’s life in the village and later. It tells of his struggle to stay in school and continue his education. The family were poor and it was hard for them to put him through primary school. They did not see why he should continue his education.

His father was a poor farmer who tilled other people's lands. He did not see any value in education and could not understand why his son wanted to go through secondary school. The author had to overcome the obstacle of their abject poverty to continue his studies.
