Vinay (Dev Anand) flirts with Anjali (Tanuja) the daughter of a big jewelry storeowner with the aim of getting a job. And he gets it, with Anjali sticking to him like a leech. At her birthday party, a gorgeous stranger Shalini (Vyjayantimala), clings to him, and calls him Amar and claims that he is her fianc. Vinay disproves that, but cannot escape the feeling that this Amar needs to be found out. A number of daring jewelry heists have taken place and Vinay is the suspect. Who is the real jewel thief? Is it Vinay the police commissioners son? Is it the ever, elusive Amar? Or is someone cleverly masterminding the whole charade from the background?
